I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m a chardonnay girl and proud of it. In fact, after reading a snippet in our local rag I’m rather relieved that I’m out of trend with my wine preference. According to a recent million-dollar scientific study, the prized aroma of our most popular grape variety Sauvignon Blanc is cat’s pee! (Reminds me of the time my son decided to never again eat hummus after I explained that it was made from chickpea.)
At least I can relate to cat’s pee. Probably most of us have experienced that delight at some time in our lives. But it wasn’t too long ago when the description on the back of every bottle of Savy started with ‘hints of gooseberry’. Now that one always stumped me. I mean have you or anyone you know ever seen a gooseberry bush let alone smelt one?
